Led the Design for Aggregated Profile : the Core of Zus Platform

Designed the Patient Overview from 0→1, turning complex raw data into clear, actionable insight.

Zus Health is a platform that brings together healthcare data from multiple sources into one connected system.

At its core, the Zus Aggregated Profile simplifies complex healthcare data by bringing key patient information into a single, clear view. Built on FHIR standards, it helps clinicians see what matters instantly and lets organizations embed it seamlessly into their own tools.

I led the design of this core experience, shaping the structure and interactions that turned complex medical data into clarity & collaborated with engineering and product teams to ensure the system scaled across organizations and aligned with Zus’s vision for an embeddable, flexible platform.

The Challenge : Abundance Without Clarity

Zus had already solved the technical challenge: aggregating patient data from multiple systems using FHIR standards.

But clinicians didn’t need more data they needed clarity and confidence in what they were seeing.

This is the consolidated Zus FHIR place.

Our goal was to turn this technical aggregation into a human-centered experience one that balanced trust, readability, and scalability for every healthcare organization.

Design Goal : Simplify the Complex

The design challenge wasn’t about visual polish it was about hierarchy and trust.

We aimed to present a complete patient snapshot that minimized cognitive load, emphasized recency and relevance, and made it easy for teams to interpret patient context at a glance.

We aimed to present a complete patient snapshot that minimized cognitive load, emphasized recency and relevance, and made it easy for teams to interpret patient context at a glance.

In short: turn chaos into confidence.

And we kind of solved this already!!

We had already simplified patient data by breaking it into customizable widgets for medications, labs, and care plans giving clinicians a cleaner, more digestible view than traditional tables.

But while this solved for flexibility, it still required every team to configure multiple widgets manually and that didn’t scale.

Rethinking the Experience

We realized we needed a higher-order solution something that could combine the power of all widgets into one unified surface.

This became the Aggregated Profile, a single, intelligent patient view that pulls data from all underlying widgets Medications, Care Plans, Conditions, Labs, and more into a clear, prioritized layout.

And it worked for both types of users:

Clinicians using Zus as their primary platform, who needed a quick, reliable patient summary.

Partner organizations embedding Zus, who could drop the Aggregated Profile directly into their workflows and instantly gain the same comprehensive context.

This wasn’t just a new screen it was a meta-widget, a “smart layer” that brought all the most important information together without adding setup or friction.

Designing the Unified View

The Aggregated Profile is built as a modular hierarchy of clarity:

The Overview tab gives an instant snapshot of key patient info caregiver, team, and contact details.

Secondary tabs (Care Team, Care Plan, Medications, Overdue Tasks) that let users explore deeper details without losing orientation.

Behind the scenes, everything follows a shared design logic layout, spacing, and patterns pulled from the existing widget system to ensure consistency and scalability.

The Aggregated Profile reduced the learning curve for new users who just needed “a single view.”

How it works?

The Zus Aggregated Profile reduced the learning curve for new users who just needed “a single view.” For clinicians, it meant spending less time searching for data and more time focusing on care.

More importantly, it scaled beyond Zus.

This embedding capability allows partner organizations to call the Aggregated Profile widget into their own products - keeping Zus data accessible, actionable, and trustworthy across platforms.

For example, imagine ClickUp wants to display a patient's data within its own tool.

Through a <Zus–ClickUp integration>, their team can import, view, and manage a patient’s historical and current medical conditions directly inside the ClickUp interface styled to match their native design so it feels seamlessly integrated, not embedded.

Collaboration That Scaled the System

Working closely with engineering, I helped map FHIR data structures to UI components, define states for missing or duplicate data, and standardize loading and provenance patterns. Together with product, we aligned the UX across modules to ensure the Aggregated Profile became the core data view powering the Zus platform.

While engineering implemented token-based theming, my design work laid the foundation for it. By defining modular widget patterns, clear hierarchy, and flexible layouts, I provided a consistent framework for data mapping, component theming, and edge-case handling reducing rework and ensuring scalability across partner organizations.

Impact

The Aggregated Profile became the core patient experience powering the Zus Health platform and a key selling point in partner adoption and investor conversations. It demonstrated how design could turn technical data aggregation into a scalable, usable, and trusted product experience.
